Angel Cabrera's name will join the list of tour player turned golf course architect.

Angel Cabrera will be adding his name to the list of the top pros that have transformed from tour player to global golf course designer.

Cabrera will partner with Gary Player to design courses all over the world with his main focus on his home territory of Latin America.

Gary Player Design has a 30-year history with more than 300 courses under the belt and is known world wide for creating championship golf courses.

Cabrera established a friendship with Gary Player while he played for his Presidents Cup teams in 2005 and 2007 and has decided to venture into the golf course design business.

"Through my playing career, I have developed a keen understanding of quality course design techniques and feel very confident in my design vision. Having an organization with the quality of Gary Player Design as a resource was extra important to me as my design business grows. Perhaps, Gary and I may even collaborate on a project in the future," said Cabrera, who is looking forward to vast opportunities in the future for designing golf courses in Argentina and Brazil.

As time goes on Cabrera will look to Gary Player Design to bring marketing, technical design services, and personal expertise to the table. Cabrera will have immediate access to all assets associated with Gary Player Design to make his visions come to life.

"Mr. Player and Angel have formed a relationship, which was the foundation for our business alliance. Given that Angel is at the height of his career and has won multiple major championships, I expect we will be looking at several new projects together, particularly in South America," said Scott Ferrell, president of Gary Player Design.

Cabrera and Player both learned golf at an early age, achieved great success and are credited for expanding the presence of golf in their home countries of South Africa and Argentina.

Over the 30-years of Gary Player Designs existence the firm has worked in over 35 countries and currently has more than 60 projects that are active in Africa, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and the Americas. Gary Player Designs prides itself on growing the game of golf in emerging markets to help with global golf awareness.
